Upon request of Mr. Jin,
a German Chinese tour leader, we did a lot of investigation over many
ethnic primary schools in the countryside, to select proper one for his
guests, who wanted to do some donation to help students and teachers at
remote places. Finally we chose the primary school of Manlai Village
near Xiding, where most students were from Aini or Lahu families, school
was simple, but teachers were very responsible and optimistic, students
were very hard-working and lovely. After talking with teachers
beforehand, we got the idea what they most needed, and with budget from
Mr. Jin, around 5000 RMB, we spent one week preparing everything before
Mr. Jin and his guests' arrival, pencils, pencils-sharpeners, pens, ink,
drawing boards, badmintons, basketballs, folk music discs, a computer
desk, a laser printer, etc., for teachers and students of different
grades.
On Oct. 09, Mr. Jin and his
guests, together with all stuff for kids and teachers, visited Manlai
Primary School around 90 km from town. Knowing about our arrival, whole
school turned festive, kids were so happy, and all in their nice
traditional costumes, they even gave a small folk performance as
thankfulness to us, how nice!
Their happiness is the
greatest reward to us for our work! |
