201002 Exploring Ethnic Groups in Lancang and Menglian Area with MR. VAN DEN BERG

Mr. Van Den Berg, a Dutch ethnic culture expert, asked us to arrange an exploration tour to remote ethnic places for study on the real life and culture of the local, we recommended Lancang and Menglian areas close to Burma border, where it's quite free from tourists' impact, and the life and culture state of ethnic people was just natural. In February of 2010, after Chinese Lunar New Year, Mr. Berg and his wife started their trip into those unbeaten regions, their destinations were around 200 km away to the northwest of Xishuangbanna.

Feb. 18 - Feb. 23, 2010

Mr. Van Den Berg and his wife stayed about 1 week in Lancang and Menglian area, they did a lot of visits to ethnic villages.

Very nice areas! People were open and friendly, and quite many ethnic women were still in the traditional costumes, since it's just after Chinese Lunar New Year, luckily we came across villagers' celebration party in two villages, that's even much more colorful! The better thing was, we didn't meet any tourist, neither Chinese nor westerner, which meant, such authentic life and culture would go on without too much disturbance.
