Mengzi County lies in the east of Honghe Hani Minority and Yi Minority's Autonomous Prefecture, is the political center and administrative capital of Honghe area, the county has an area of 2228 square kilometers and population of around 320 thousand, including ethnic groups as Yi, Miao, Zhuang, Hui, etc. Mengzi is on low-latitude tableland, under the influence of sub-tropical monsoon climate, average temperature fluctuates around 18 degrees and annual rainfall is around 815 mm.
